Socially, Americans became more independent and liberated in all aspects of life. Technology was creating a new modern standard of living for the average American family. The Jazz Age defined a generation of young Americans, who reinvented the cultural norms for generations to come. Politics of this decade played a major role in American history as well. Presidents Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover presided over a decade of overall prosperity and economic growth for America, which eventually led to her downfall into The Great Depression.
